Randall <Mac II / Metalheadz / Reinforced>

Randall started DJing at the age of 17 and was introduced to DJ scratching and mixing by a mate at college who was down with DJ Pogo, Cutmaster Swift and other DJs in the late 80s who where big in the game at the time. It was a bank holiday in 1987 at Notting Hill carnival where he was introduced to acid house music, he had to know more about this new sound he had witnessed, the way people were all together getting down to this sound…

Randall started buying records and listening to DJs like Rhythm Doctor, Rob Ackinson, Lindon C, and Mr C who were part of a crew called “Hypnosis”, but it was Rhythm Doctor who blew him away by the way he mixed tunes - pure class. Late in 88 a guy got a mix tape that had done the rounds in Randall’s area (East London).and asked if he’d play with them at a warehouse party in Stratford. The crew were called “Delirium”…

After playing a few dates in the same warehouse it was a Saturday night where he hooked up with Mr Pasha who was running a pirate radio station called “centreforce radio 88.3”. He liked the way Randall played and offered a Saturday night show 10-12. Randall couldn’t refuse the offer. The following week Randall’s sound was on the airwaves across London.

Many illegal parties later, Randall got a break playing at Living Dream @ Eastway Stadium in Leyton (10,000 people). Colin Dale didn’t turn up so he had to play 3hours. It was there he was really noticed and was offered a resident Saturday night set with a crew called “Orange” @ Rocket Club, playing with DJs Hype, Grooverider, Fabio, Rap, Squirrel, etc. After 3 years with Orange he got an offer to play with a crew called AWOL, who had a club just started called Paradise Club in Islington, with other DJs Mickey Finn, Kenny Ken, Darren Jay, Gachet and MC GQ. History was in the making…

By now randall was with Cool Hand flex, Uncle 22, and Mike who had a shop in Forest Gate called Deunderground Records Here they put tunes out on various labels, one of which was called I.E. Records (who produced that track of the time “We R E” by Lenni Dee Ice. Jungle was around the corner…
